For the first time, Judd Trump and Ronnie O’Sullivan will compete in Hong Kong as SAR residents, headlining the World Snooker Grand Prix 2025 at Kai Tak Arena from March 4 to 9. With a record £700,000 prize fund, the event marks the tournament’s first edition outside the UK, and will be the most attended in World Snooker Tour history, with 5,000 live spectators.
World No.1 Judd Trump and snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan will be making their first competitive appearances in Hong Kong since gaining residency through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme last year.
Trump, eager to play with local support behind him, likened the experience of using his HKID for the first time to being "a kid at Christmas" and admitted feeling more pressure than at the World Championship. He added that having local support will bring extra motivation, saying, "I hope to represent Hong Kong and make the city proud."
The tournament opens with Trump vs. Si Jiahui and O’Sullivan vs. Kyren Wilson, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle. It could culminate in a dream final between the two stars, which Trump called a "perfect conclusion."
Adding to the excitement, free exhibition matches will be held on March 8 and 9. Hong Kong’s Marco Fu will face the legendary Jimmy White, while three-time women’s world champion Ng On-yee will take on current World No.1 Mink Nutcharut.
Tickets range from HK$80 to HK$2,580 and are available via HK Ticketing and Damai, with a unique "roll-on roll-off" format allowing fans to watch two consecutive matches per session.
